Cape Town, Pilanesberg, Mpumalanga to Johannesburg

Your tour starts in Cape Town with a city tour, where you will step into the rich history of the city and view key historical monuments and places of interest.  You will ascend Table Mountain (weather permitting).  Your Peninsula tour will take you further afield; visit Duiker Island by boat, see Cape Point Nature Reserve, eventually stopping at lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.  You’ll be seeing all aspects of Cape Town and its surrounds as this tour also includes a day in in the country’s iconic Winelands.

A short inland flight will take you to the Pilanesberg and an evening of entertainment at Sun City Resort.  Enjoy your early morning game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park to learn more about the region before heading to Mpumalanga for some wildlife exploration in the Kruger National Park.

Your route to Johannesburg takes you through the scenic Blyde River Canyon, stopping at God’s Window in the Drakensberg and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.  Your last night will be spent in luxury at Emperors Palace with entertainment and restuarants to suit every taste.



Day 1 

Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by your guide.  Depart for an orientation tour of Cape Town and the opportunity to ascend the iconic Table Mountain.

Cape Town City:  Explore South Africa’s ‘Mother CIty” on this guided orientation tour of the historical and cultural sights of Cape Town.  You will step into the rich history of the city passing by key historical monuments and places of interest such as the impressive Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town City Hall, St Gorege’s Cathedral and the lush Company Gardens.  Continue to Table Mountain where you will have the opportunity to ascend this icon by 360 degree rotating cable car (weather permitting).

Enjoy a light lunch in the V&A Waterfront before checking in to your hotel for your 3-night stay.  Spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure.

Accommodation at President Hotel in a standard mountain facing room on a bed and breakfast basis.  A 4-star seaside hotel located along Cape Town’s platinum mile, the President boasts some of the best ocean and mountain views in the city.  Overlooking Bantry Bay and allowing easy access to the city centre, V&A Waterfront and the Camp’s Bay and Clifton beaches, the hotel offers convenient and comfortable accommodation.  Facilities at this luxury destination include a rim-flow swimming pool surrounded by stylish deck and pool bar, the Islands Restaurant that serves up generous breakfast, a gym, travel desk, as well as a fully equipped business centre.

Day 2  

After breakfast, depart on a full day guided tour of the picturesque Cape Peninsula.

Cape Peninsula Tour:  This full-day tour explores Cape Town’s stunning peninsula moving through the vibrant coastal suburb of Sea Point with its famous promenade and onto the upmarket, pristine beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.  The scenic road winds its way to Hout Bay where a boat trip to Duiker Island, home to thousands of seals, is possible before heading onto the famous Cape Point Nature Reserve at the very tip of the peninsula.  The road twists its way to a penguin colony that has made Simon’s Town home, and then through the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay and surfer heaven Muizenberg before stopping at the lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.  Lunch will be enjoyed en-route.

Return to your hotel for some time to relax and freshen up before departing to an Asian restaurant for dinner.

Day 3  

After breakfast, depart on a full day winelands tours, exploring the best of South African wine.

Full day winelands tour:  There could be no better way to spend a day than indulging in a Cape Winelands experience packed with historic and modern architecture, fabulous cuisine and, of course, world-class wines.  The tour heads to the country’s principal wine routes of Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek – all of them with fascinating histories and their unique offerings.  Traversing stunning landscapes, this full-day experience stops along the way for wine tasting at prestigious estates.  South Africa is know for its quality white, reds, blends and bubblies!  Lunch to be savoured en-route.

Return to your hotel for some time to relax and freshen up before departing for a home hosted Cape Malay dinner experience.

Day 4

After breakfast you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flight to Pilanesberg International Airport located in South Africa’s North West Province to Sun city.  upon arrival at Sun City Resort, check in to The Palace at Sun City and relish in a western meal.  The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to explore the activities and facilities of the resort where entertainment is the order of the day.  Restuarants, bars, sports, the Valley of the Waves, shopping, casino and adventure will keep you entertained.

Accommodation is at The Palace At Sun City, which includes breakfast and complimentary entry into the Valley of Waves and shuttle service within the resort.  The Palace is and African fantasy palace that indulges, inspires and is a grand affair.  The architecture is bold and the African influence is seen in everything from elephant fountains to the hand-crafted furniture that adorns the resort.  The Palace is set in an emerald green jungle landscape and makes you feel as though you have been plucked from the real world and placed into a wild adventure.  The Valley of Waves is one of the many highlights at the Palace.  It is an idyllic beach cove that creates its own waves surrounded by bush landscape .  The Grand Pool beckons with sun kisses and cocktails as you relax in one of Africa’s most envied destinations.

Day 5

An early morning departure sets you on your way to Hazyview, an approximate 550km drive.  Enjoy a western meal en-route.

Hazyview is situated in the province of Mpumalanga and functions as a gateway town to the Kruger National Park.  It gets its name from the shimmering haze that sets over the landscape during the hot summer months.  This small town is within a short driving distance from three entry gates into the Kruger National Park and the town developed because of this close proximity and today, has a renowned banana industry.  Hazyview has some pretty good facilities geared towards the travellers who use the town as a base camp for their safari and the atmosphere is quite electric with the anticipation of a safari in waiting.

Accommodation day 5 & 6 at Perry’s Bridge Hollow in a Standard Room, which includes breakfast.  Perry’s Bridge Hollow Boutique Hotel is set in gorgeous manicured gardens in the lifestyle centre of Perry’s Brdige Trading Post.  It is colonial in style, adding elements of old world grand and is minutes away for the legendary destination the the Kruger National Park as well as the Panorama Route.  Kuka is a popular restaurant offering and is a place of vibrant colour and South African cuisine designed to tantalise the taste buds.  The Trading Post has a world of clothing boutiques, a deli, a curio shop, and interior decor store, a hairdressing salon and an information centre.

A traditional evening filled with beating drums and festive dance awaits!  Revel in a selection of mouth-watering Shangaan and South African cuisine.

Day 6

Depart early morning with a packed breakfast to the famous Kruger National Park for a day of African wildlife exploration

Full day Game Drive (KNP):   This game drive experience in the world-renowned Kruger National Park is one you will never forget.  Explore the pristine wilderness in an open safari vehicle with a highly experienced ranger, who will ensure optimal game viewing with his in-depth knowledge of the African bush.  As you search for the Big Five, keep an eye out for the many other smaller creatures that live in this reserve, including over 500 bird and over 100 reptile species.  A western lunch will be enjoyed in the park.

Return to Hazyview where a western dinner will be served at a restaurant in the Perry’s Bridge Trading Post.

Day 7

An early morning departure to Johannesburg will take you via the scenic Blyde River Canyon where you will have the opportunity to discover unparalleled views and breath-taking landscape.  Stops will be made at God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Potholes.  A western lunch will be served en-route.

Gods Window:  Located in the Drakensberg escarpment in beautiful Mpumalanga, God’s Window is a breath-taking natural rock formation that allows for spectacular views of the Lowveld and the ravine directly below.  From the vantage of the viewpoint, the cliffs plunge more than 700m to lush indigenous forest below.  From God’s Window, set at almost 2 000m above sea level, one can see the distant Lebombo Mountains as well as the Kruger National Park.  There is also a rainforest in the vicinity with a collection of fascinating aloe gardens and the weathered sandstone outcrops of rock are well worth a visit.

Bourke’s Luck Potholes:  Bourke’s Luck Potholes were named after the gold digger, Tom Burke, who predicted that gold would be found in the area but never realised the rewards of his prediction.  This natural water feature with its cylindrical rock sculptures amid eddies of white, yellow and dark brown water is a popular destination in the region.  The massive potholes were formed by waterborne sand and rock grinding together propelled by the force of the Treur river water as it enters the Blyde River.  It is a 700km walk from the Visitor’s Centre to Bourke’s Luck Potholes and it is worth lingering awhile at the centre to learn about the natural and socio-historical features of the region.

Your evening will be spent at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg where you will overnight at D’Oreale Grande Hotel.  Emperor’s Palace offers a world of entertainment and a great variety of restaurants.
