Riustenburg to Cape Town

After arriving in Johannesburg you’ll experience an orientation tour of Pretoria and then continue on to your escape into Africa’s natural bush, Kedar Country Lodge

Enjoy your early morning game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park to learn more about the region.  The afternoon will be spent at Sun City Resort, before heading back to Johannesburg for your overnight at Emperor’s Palace.   THe next morning you will catch your flight to Cape Town, to enjoy what the Mother City has to offer.

On your Cape Town City tour, you will step into the rich history of the city and view key historical monuments and places of interest.  Your Peninsula tour will take you further afield; visit Duiker Island by boat, see Cape Point Nature Reserve, eventually stopping at lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.

Your full-day Winelands tour will take you to Stellenbosch and Franschoek, to enjoy wines and a picnic at one of the spectacular wine estates.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport you will be met by your guide, welcoming you to the urban landscape of Johannesburg.  continue onto the city’s financial hub, Sandton.

Pretoria City Tour:  Pretoria is known for being an attractive city with leafy suburbs and in October and November each year the city takes on a purple hue as the jacarandas blossom.  It is widely considered less cosmopolitan than Johannesburg but none the less has an impressive range of bars and restuarants that serve delicious local cuisine and the atmosphere is one of welcoming south African hospitality.  The orientation tour includes passing by the Union Buildings and the Voortrekker Monument.

Continue your journey with an approximate 1 hour 45 minute drive to Kedar Country Lodge for your overnight.

Accommodation is at the Kedar Country Lodge in Rustenburg, which includes breakfast.  The luxurious Kedar Country Lodge is set on 1 200 acres of pristine bushveld, perfect for those looking for an escape into Africa’s natural bush, filled with an abundance of wildlife and birds.  The lodge is decorated in a vibrant African theme, with hand painted fabrics and African art on the walls.  The enclosed gardens with swimming pool provide a relaxing retreat for those wanting to while away leisure hours.  The Big 5 Pilanesberg Game Reserve is nearby, as is Sun City Resort.

Day 2

Depart early morning with a packed breakfast for Pilanesberg National Park for an early morning game drive.

Scheduled Game Drive:  Guests will be met and escorted by experienced and registered field guides eager to share their extensive knowledge  of the region.  The 25-seater open vehicle traverses a region populated by virtually every mammal in Southern Africa including the Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. Guests are advised to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and bring along binoculars and cameras.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon and lunch (to own account) at leisure at Sun City Resort.  Return to Johannesburg by road.  Your evening will be spent at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg where you will overnight at D’Oreale Grande Hotel.  Emperor’s Palace offers a world of entertainment and a great variety of restuarants.

Accommodation is at D’Oreale Grande Hotel, which includes breakfast.  D’Oreale Grande is a masterpiece of luxury at Emperor’s Palace.  There is a palpable air of exclusivity and refinement and artwork that is designed to inspire and delight.  Aurelia’s Restaurant is fine dining and Octavia’s Sensorium is a health and beauty spa that will rejuvenate the mind, body and soul.  Neptune’s Pool Bar is the place to sip a cocktail and savour the African burnt-orange sunset.  The hotel has full access to the casino, dining and entertainment facilities at the resort.  The swimming pool is set in verdant gardens and is an enticing azure, the perfect place to read a book and have a dip on lazy days.

Day 3 

After breakfast, depart for O R Tambo International Airport for your onward flight to Cape Town.  Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport embark on a Cape Town city orientation tour before checking in to your hotel.

Cape Town City:  Explore South Africa’s ‘Mother CIty” on theis guided orientation tour of the historical and cultural sights of Cape Town.  You will step into the rich history of the city passing by key historical monuments and places of interest such as the impressive Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town City Hall, St Gorege’s Cathedral, the lush Company Gardens and the colourful Bo-Kaap.  Enjoy a light Cape Malay home hosted lunch.

Accommodation from day 3 to 6 is at President Hotel Sea Point, which includes breakfast.  A 4-star seaside hotel located along Cape Town’s platinum mile, the President boasts some of the best ocean and mountain views in the city.  Overlooking Bantry Bay and allowing easy access to the city centre, V&A Waterfront and Camps Bay and Clifton beaches, the hotel offers convenient and comfortable accommodation.  Facilities at this luxury destination include a rim flow swimming pool surrounded by a stylish deck and pool bar, the Islands Restaurant that serves up generous breakfast, a gym, travel desk, as well as a fully equipped business centre.

Spend the afternoon at the renowned V&A Waterfront where shopping is the order of the day.  Dinner will be at an Asian restaurant in close vicinity of the hotel

Day 4  

After breakfast, set off on a full day guided tour of the picturesque Cape Peninsula.

Cape Peninsula Tour:  This full-day tour explores Cape Town’s stunning peninsula moving through the vibrant coastal suburb of Sea Point with its famous promenade and onto the upmarket, pristine beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.  The scenic road winds its way to Hout Bay where a boat trip to Duiker Island, home to thousands of seals, is possible before heading onto the famous Cape Point Nature Reserve at the very tip of the peninsula.  The road twists its way to a penguin colony that has made Simon’s Town home, and then through the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay and surfer heaven Muizenberg before stopping at the lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.  Lunch will be enjoyed en-route.

Return to your hotel for some time to relax and freshen up before departing to an Asian restaurant for dinner.

Day 5  

After breakfast, depart on a full day Winelands tour, exploring the best of South African wine.

Full day Winelands:  There could be no better way to spend a day than indulging in a Cape Winelands experience, packed with historic and modern architecture, fabulous cuisine and, of course, world-class wines.  The tour heads to the country’s principal wine routes of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek – with their fascinating histories and unique offerings.  A picnic lunch will be served at one of the renowned wine estates.

Day 6  

After breakfast, depart for Cape Town International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
