Johannesburg to Cape Town

Your first stop is Johannesburg’s most prestigious suburb, Sandton, with it’s alluring array of shops, restuarants and entertainment options.

After an orientation tour of Pretoria, South Africa’s administrative centre and once the heart of the apartheid regime, continue on to the North West Province for an evening of entertainment at Sun City Resort.  Enjoy your early morning game drive in the Pilanesberg National Park to learn more about the region before heading back to Johannesburg to catch your flight to Cape Town.

On your Cape Town City tour, you will step into the rich history of the city and view key historical monuments and places of interest.  You will ascend Table Mountain (weather permitting) and afterwards enjoy lunch and wine tasting at a Constantia wine farm.  Your Peninsula tour will take you further afield; visit Duiker Island by boat, see Cape Point Nature Reserve, eventually stopping at lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.

ITINERARY

Day 1

Upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport you will be met by your guide, welcoming you to the urban landscape of Johannesburg.  continue onto the city’s financial hub, Sandton.

Accommodation is at the Garden Court Sandton City, which includes breakfast, with high-speed internet, a sparkling swimming pool and an equipped gym and many other facilities close to the hotel.  The hotel is ideally placed in the heart of Sandton, within walking distance of the Sandton Shopping Centre,one of the most popular in the southern hemisphere.

Dinner to be enjoyed at an Asian inspired restaurant close to the hotel.

Day 2

After breakfast, depart for Pretoria – the administrative capital of South Africa.

Pretoria City Tour:  Pretoria is known for being an attractive city with leafy suburbs and in October and November each year the city takes on a purple hue as the jacarandas blossom.  It is widely considered less cosmopolitan than Johannesburg but none the less has an impressive range of bars and restuarants that serve delicious local cuisine and the atmosphere is one of welcoming south African hospitality.  The orientation tour includes passing by the Union Buildings and the Voortrekker Monument.

Continue to South Africa’s North West Province to Sun city.  Lunch to be enjoyed en-route.  Check in to The Palace at Sun city.  The rest of the afternoon will be at leisure to explore the activities and facilities of the resort where entertainment is the order of the day.  Restuarants, bars, sports, the Valley of the Waves, shopping, casino and adventure will keep you entertained.

Accommodation is at The Palace At Sun City, which includes breakfast and complimentary entry into the Valley of Waves and shuttle service within the resort.  The Palace is and African fantasy palace that indulges, inspires and is a grand affair.  The architecture is bold and the African influence is seen in everything from elephant fountains to the hand-crafted furniture that adorns the resort.  The Palace is set in an emerald green jungle landscape and makes you feel as though you have been plucked from the real world and placed into a wild adventure.  The Valley of Waves is one of the many highlights at the Palace.  It is an idyllic beach cove that creates its own waves surrounded by bush landscape .  The Grand Pool beckons with sun kisses and cocktails as you relax in one of Africa’s most envied destinations.

Day 3 

Depart early morning with a packed breakfast for Pilanesberg National Park for an early  morning game drive.

Scheduled Game Drive:  Guests will be met and escorted by experienced and registered field guides eager to share their extensive knowledge  of the region.  The 25-seater open vehicle traverses a region populated by virtually every mammal in Southern Africa including the Big 5 – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. Guests are advised to wear comfortable outdoor clothing and bring along binoculars and cameras.

Return to Johannesburg with a Western lunch to be enjoyed en-route.  Upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport, depart for Cape Town.  A guided transfer awaits, taking you to the President Hotel where you will be accommodated during your Cape Town stay.  Dinner at a restaurant in close proximity to your hotel

Accommodation from day 3 to 6 is at President Hotel Sea Point, which includes breakfast.  A 4-star seaside hotel located along Cape Town’s platinum mile, the President boasts some of the best ocean and mountain views in the city.  Overlooking Bantry Bay and allowing easy access to the city centre, V&A Waterfront and Camps Bay and Clifton beaches, the hotel offers convenient and comfortable accommodation.  Facilities at this luxury destination include a rim flow swimming pool surrounded by a stylish deck and pool bar, the Islands Restaurant that serves up generous breakfast, a gym, travel desk, as well as a fully equipped business centre.

Day 4  

After breakfast, set off on a city orientation tour.

Cape Town City:  Explore South Africa’s ‘Mother CIty” on theis guided orientation tour of the historical and cultural sights of Cape Town.  You will step into the rich history of the city passing by key historical monuments and places of interest such as the impressive Castle of Good Hope, Cape Town City Hall, St Gorege’s Cathedral, the lush Company Gardens and the colourful Bo-Kaap.  Ascend Table Mountain by cable car (weather permitting).  Continue to the oldest wine region in South Africa – Constantia.  Lunch and wine tasting to be enjoyed at a wine farm.

Day 5  

After breakfast, depart on a full day guided tour of the picturesque Cape Peninsula.

Cape Peninsula Tour:  This full-day tour explores Cape Town’s stunning peninsula moving through the vibrant coastal suburb of Sea Point with its famous promenade and onto the upmarket, pristine beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.  The scenic road winds its way to Hout Bay where a boat trip to Duiker Island, home to thousands of seals, is possible before heading onto the famous Cape Point Nature Reserve at the very tip of the peninsula.  The road twists its way to a penguin colony that has made Simon’s Town home, and then through the eclectic fishing village of Kalk Bay and surfer heaven Muizenberg before stopping at the lush Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens.  Lunch will be enjoyed en-route.

Return to your hotel for some time to relax and freshen up before departing to an Asian restaurant for dinner.

After breakfast, depart for Cape Town International Airport for your onward travel arrangements.
